IBO April 2018 Evening Meeting 

Guest Speaker: Emma Giles - Brand Director, Beer at Diageo (parent company of Guinness)

Emma Giles is the Brand Director - Beer for the US and Canada at Diageo. She joined Diageo in 2014 and since then has repositioned the Guinness brand to turn around performance over the past three years. Before moving to Diageo, Emma spent 14 years working globally for Heineken. Based in New York in a regional function, she led brand strategy and execution for 40 markets in the Caribbean, Central & South America and Canada, where she successfully grew market share, implemented new digital and media strategies and ensured global governance for the Heineken brand.

Before that, Emma was based in Puerto Rico where she had a number of roles in marketing and sales within the region. She launched Heineken and Heineken Light in the Dominican Republic and led marketing plans for mainstream brands, including Lorraine in Martinique and Piton in St. Lucia. Prior to moving to the Caribbean, Emma lived in Amsterdam and worked in the global Heineken Export Team, where she managed commercial marketing projects in Europe, Mexico, Tanzania and the Caribbean.

Emma started off her career in the Canary Islands as a brand manager through the European Orientation Program “EOP” (IBEC Global Graduate program).

Before jetting off out of Ireland on her international career, Emma obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Trinity College Dublin in Spanish and Sociology and her Master’s Degree in Marketing from the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT).
