Charles R. Hale was born, raised and educated in New York and is a descendant of New York City’s Irish famine immigrants. His historically themed essays have appeared in the book, “The Writing Irish of New York” and in literary magazines. Hale’s shows, including “The Musical History of the Lower East Side,” “New York City: A Shining Mosaic,” “Jazz in the City” and “Crossing Boroughs” have been performed throughout the New York Metro. A chronicler of New York life and culture, his shows blend the city’s rich history with music, imagery and performance art to capture the vibrant and unique experience of New York. Hale is a co-founder of Artists Without Walls, an organization purposed to inspire, uplift and unite people and communities of diverse cultures through the pursuit of artistic achievement. In 2013, he was honored by the City University of New York for “Outstanding Service to New York and Irish America.”
