November 2019 Evening Meeting

Guest Speakers: Tech Panel Discussion Moderated by Joe Cieplinski featuring Paul McCubbin, Curtis Herbert, Anthony Colangelo, and others.

Paul McCubbin is a multifaceted technology professional with over 25 years experience in Information Security Consulting, Software Development, and helping non-profit organizations. Currently investigating Machine Learning's role as a promoter of job automation and what this means for the future of work.

Curtis Herbert is a developer turned entrepreneur that is passionate about building great digital products that customers will love. His main product is Slopes; the top mobile app for skiers and snowboarders. Slopes is (as we speak) launching its first social features. But while many other companies would design those features to maximize the mythical “engagement” metric, Curtis instead focused on designing a new social experience which respects users’ privacy, avoids opportunities for online harassment, and respects users’ time and attention.

A Philadelphia-based iOS and Mac developer working on apps like Big Cartel, Dark Sky, and Downlink. Previously, Anthony spent a few years at Happy Cog, a web agency founded by Jeffrey Zeldman, designing and building sites for clients big and small, local and international. When he’s not coding, he’s probably writing and talking about spaceflight on his blog and podcast, Main Engine Cut Off.
