Guest Speaker:

Colleen Berry Conway of Ogham Art

will speak on

"From Culture to Creation: The Growth of an Irish Art Business"

Join Colleen Berry Conway as she shares her motivation and commitment to launching the only North American company dedicated solely to the creation of gift items featuring the ancient Irish alphabet of Ogham.

In 2010, Colleen Berry Conway left her 17-year career with Barnes & Noble Booksellers to stay home with newly-born Desmond James and to start an entrepreneurial journey that continues to thrive, educate and inspire.  Ogham Art was built out of a love of Ireland and the hidden corners of its history with a mission to celebrate the beautiful writing system of Ogham in artistic and creative fashions.  Founded with her husband Chris, Colleen is the primary artist of Ogham Art where they offer the largest selection of Ogham-themed products in the world: prints, jewelry, home decor, tattoo designs and custom work accentuated by the first written form of the Primitive Irish language.

Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, Colleen was raised with an appreciation of her Irish roots, thanks to her father James whose grandparents emigrated from counties Kerry and Westmeath in the 1890s.  With a shared Irish ancestry, Colleen and Chris took on the adventure of highlighting one of the lesser-known chapters of Irish culture and history.  For the past 12 years, Ogham Art has been sold online, in stores, and at festivals and artisan marketplaces up and down the East Coast, attracting nearly 15,000 followers on social media. In addition to collaborating with Irish and Celtic musicians for logos and merchandise, Colleen has been commissioned by the IBO, Sober St. Patrick’s Day, the County Kerry P&B Association of New York, and the HOPe Foundation.  Taking her passion beyond the artistic realm, Colleen delivers an interactive lecture about Ogham and Celtic languages at cultural centers, networking groups, and libraries - both in person and virtually.
