Looking Back and Forward in Honor of
25 Years of the Good Friday Agreement
Speaker: Jim Lyons
Jim Lyons is the senior trial lawyer at Denver firm Lewis Roca. He focuses his practice on complex business litigation, mediation, and arbitration of all types, including corporate, securities, insurance law, and crisis management. Jim has more than 40 years of courtroom and jury trial experience in state and federal courts.
Jim also has extensive government relations and international trade and diplomatic experience from his work in Ireland and the United Kingdom. During the Clinton administration, Jim served as Special Advisor to the President and Secretary of State for economic initiatives in Northern Ireland and the border counties of the Republic of Ireland. He was responsible for various cross-community projects in support of peace and reconciliation, which contributed to the Good Friday Agreement, bringing political and social stability to the north of Ireland.
For his service “to the people of Northern Ireland and the cause of peace,” the University of Ulster awarded Jim an honorary doctorate (LL.D). Jim has served as Ireland’s Honorary Consul in Denver since 2009. He is the author of "Peace Meets the Streets: On the Ground in Northern Ireland, 1993-2001".
