    Queen’s University Belfast is delighted to be bringing a generation of global ambassadors to New York City and Boston, to embark on a Gaelic Football (GAA) tour. Supported by expert staff and coaches, the tour will see both the men’s and women’s GAA teams – two of the university’s largest and most competitive clubs – go up against US opposition in New York and Boston. The tour will serve as a key initiative in growing our global partnerships and developing opportunities for academic collaboration, alumni and civic engagement for Queen’s Sport and beyond.

    IBO member Kat Bride invites you to Brittany Day 2024 with BZH New York on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Tall Ship Wavertree, South Street Seaport, Pier 16.

    In partnership with Region Bretagne and the City of Lorient, with Mr. Fabrice Loher, Mayor of Lorient, our friends at the Association of Bretons and friends of Brittany in New York BZH New York will celebrate the vibrant culture and thriving economy of Brittany, while promoting sustainable cargo transportation by sail.

    Highlighted by three captivating segments, the day will be enlightening and entertaining:

    1. History: 3 to 5PM : Conference on the Tween Deck FREE — Must Register on Eventbrite. Renowned maritime historian, Dr. Christophe Cérino, PhD, from the University of Southern Brittany and President of the Underwater Museum of the Pays de Lorient, will delve into the fascinating history of the frigate L’Isère, the barge that delivered the Statue of Liberty to New York in 1885. 

    2. Cultural: 5:30 to 9PM: COCKTAIL FETE DE LA BRETAGNE / FEST NOZ — Over the course of the cocktail, we'll be showcasing the richness of Breton culture by including both traditional elements - Breton song, biniou/bombarde - and contemporary aesthetics that are open to the world. We will celebrate and promote the richness of Breton culture.

    3. Economics and Sports: 7:00 to 7:30 PM: IMOCA AWARD CEREMONY FOR THE TRANSIT CIC LORIENT-NY. We will honor the IMOCA winners of the prestigious Transat CIC Lorient-New York sailing race. This event, which underscores the vital maritime partnership between our regions, will also facilitate discussions on wind propulsion and its economic implications. We will honor the winners of the prestigious Transat CIC Lorient-New York sailing race.

    Nollaig na mBan NY invites you to celebrate Bealtaine on Sunday, April 28th. To welcome the summer season, wear your brightest colors and join them at 2:30 pm for lunch at The Westbury Pub 20 West 38th St. (Attendees each pay for themselves.)

    During the celebration, they invite guests to share a poem, song or story with a summer theme of love, hope and joy (5 minutes or less).  Come prepared to enjoy fabulous traditional Irish music with Bernadette Fee and Seán Moloney who will join the group for lunch.

    Their charity is the UNWLA - Ukrainian National Womens League Of America | Home. Their mission is to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians worldwide. Nollaig na mBan NY is proud to help and will pass around a basket for guests to donate to this worthy cause.

    New York City Irish Dance Festival 

    Sunday May 5th 12 noon - 6 pm

    Pier I, (W. 68th Street) on the Hudson River

    Festival Director: Niall O'Leary TCRG, ADCRG

    The 23rd annual celebration of Irish dance features traditional music and moves from notable talent from around the country and local students alike. Audience members can immerse themselves in Irish arts and culture with workshops and dance classes for all ages! 

    The festival goes until 6 pm. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the fun, everyone-out-on-the-floor social dancing parts, and to watch the amazing performers!

    The Pier I Cafe will be open, they have a great food and drinks menu and fabulous views of the river and the festival!
